Roland R. Wright Air National Guard Base -- U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Rebecca Gutzwiller is the newest production recruiter assigned to the Joint Forces Headquarters, Utah Air National Guard. Gutzwiller started off her career, in 2018, as a personalist with the 151st Operations Group. Shortly after, Gutzwiller moved to the 151st Force Support Squadron where she oversaw the customer service section which included the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System as well as the military ID section.
During her time in the 151st FSS, Gutzwiller excelled and was selected to be the recruiting assistant for JFHQ-UTANG Recruiting Office. Gutzwiller worked alongside the base retention manager and would eventually take over the responsibility of the State Tuition Assistance Program.
In September 2022, Gutzwiller was handpicked to be the newest Recruiter of the UTANG. The day in the life of a U.S. Air Force recruiter is to introduce others to the military life, while providing the information about career opportunities and requirements that if met, can start them on a fast track to a new career path to enlist in the UTANG.
“I love being able to help incoming young kids or prior service, who want to join and see their life change,” said Gutzwiller. “Nothing makes me happier than being on drill weekend seeing all these kids who want to serve their country and I'm the one that helped them get there.”
Being in the Utah Air National Guard can give a sense of purpose in the same way a family does, all working towards a common goal that can change lives when missions are accomplished.
“We [Air Force] instill so many amazing things into people like discipline and confidence, and I truly believe that the military in general is so good for everyone,” said Gutzwiller. “Even if they end up separating and not doing this as a career, just with the experience they're going to get, it's going to help them so much in the long run on the civilian side.”
