Utah Air Guard children participate in annual Easter Egg Hunt

SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Air National Guard held their annual Children's Easter Egg Hunt on the ANG base March 27.

With baskets in hand, hundreds of Air Guard children attended this year's event eager to search for eggs containing candy and the coveted golden dollars.

"We are excited to continue the tradition of the annual Utah ANG Easter Egg Hunt," said Jill Lukes, event coordinator and Airman and Family Readiness Programs manager. "This event has grown bigger each year. Last year over 5,000 eggs were placed for the children to find."

This year's event did not disappoint. The day kicked off with a magic show by magician Christopher Fair, whose presentation included colored scarves, juggling and a magic rabbit. After the show, the children were invited to participate in an Easter egg hunt, where they were divided into several age groups to search for the eggs.

With brightly colored eggs scattered around the base, the children were couldn't wait to be released to search for the eggs containing crunchy candy and the prized possession - the golden dollar. Approximately 150 eggs contained golden dollars.

"It is always exciting to find the eggs with a golden dollar inside," explained Lukes.

This year's hunt was one of the largest in years, and included members of the 151st Air Refueling Wing, State Headquarters and tenant organizations.

"We've been averaging about 800 people over the last three years," said Chief Master Sgt. Robert Hill, Utah ANG State Headquarters Command Chief, who took time out of his busy schedule to attend the event.

This year's egg hunt was sponsored by the Utah ANG Airmen and Family Readiness Program. The organization is responsible for many of the morale and welfare events that are hosted on base.
