Family Program Office announces holiday programs for Guardsmen Published Dec. 4, 2009 By Maj. Krista DeAngelis 151st ARW/PA SALT LAKE CITY -- As the holiday season approaches, the Family Program Office has coordinated two programs aimed at helping Utah Army and Air National Guard members and families. This month, the Utah ANG base will host the annual Utah National Guard Children's Christmas Party on Saturday, December 12 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event will be held in building 19, North Hangar. Children of Guard members will have the opportunity to make crafts, eat food and open presents from Santa and Mrs. Clause. This event is open to both Air and Army Guard members and immediate family and grandchildren. It is requested that members refrain from bringing friends, neighbors, cousins, etc. In addition to the Christmas party, the Guard is hosting a "Sub for Santa" program. Due to ongoing deployments and the current economy, there are many Guard families who are not able to provide food, clothes and toys for their families during this season. Sub for Santa assists these families in their time of need. "Members can help these families by providing gift certificates, gift cards, toys, food or monetary donations," said Jill Lukes, Family Program coordinator. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance for Christmas this year, or wants to donate or sponsor a family, please visit www.ut.ngb.army.mil/family , click on the Sub for Santa tab and follow the instructions. This is kept completely confidential. For questions on any of these programs, contact Jill Lukes in the Family Program Office at 801-245-2524 or 801-231-5717, or email jill.lukes@ang.af.mil.
