101st undergoes name change to 101st IOF Published Aug. 1, 2009 By Tech. Sgt. Michelle McEntire 101st IOF SALT LAKE CITY -- On July 1, the 101st Information Warfare Flight was redesignated the 101st Information Operations Flight or IOF. This name change was made to better reflect the mission of the 101st. The 101st provides non-kinetic operational options to the Combined Forces Air Component Commander (CFACC) in support of the Global War on Terrorism. Inputs provided by the 101st have been utilized in the integrated Air Defense Systems in the national capital region, national security special events, events for Homeland Security and associated Combined and Joint Interagency Task Forces. Past activities include participation in Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma relief operations, major North American Aerospace Defense Command, U.S. Northern Command and Canadian exercises and operations to support the Super Bowl, space shuttle launch and recovery, G8 Summit, UN General Assembly and the Republican and Democratic National Conventions.
